Anyone using a UHD ("4K") monitor

For many reasons, I am in need of a new computer monitor, and I've narrowed it down to either a 24-inch 1920x1200 monitor or a 27-inch 3840x2400 monitor. Ironically, the 27-inch UHD is cheaper, but I did a lot of research in arriving at two specific models.

I love the sharp text, but not having used one in my own room, I'm concerned about the size and visibility of text and applications on the UHD display. I'd like to know in particular how well such a monitor would would work with Trinity on Q4OS. Does it work well with that high resolution? Is there support for scaling? Will I need scaling at 20-24 inches away even with my contact lenses (which work very well)?

I don't do movies, games, or photography. It's just internet, email, audio/music collections, programming, and documents.

I'm wondering if anyone who has such monitors could offer some suggestions or advice.
