Hello Folks,
I moved
home/user/share/applications/plank/plank.desktop
into
/etc/xdg/autostart
... and it did not do what I had planned

Try
/home/user/.config/autostart/
Alternatively it may need to go in the ~/.trinity autostart folder depending on how much you have left in place - assuming you're not trying to run plank with TDE or Plasma
Make sure it is executable.

I don't have a
/home/user/.config/autostart/
However, I did put the application in
home/user/trinity/autostart/
now on reboot I get a message "The desktop entry file /home/user/.trinity/autostart/plank has no type=entry".
I checked the file and it is checked as 'executable' and the filetype is set as 'application'. <--- don't know if that is what is was referring to...

For now I have Plank on the panel and click it manually after boot.
Seems to keep all that was added to it and settings...
Thanks for the suggestions bin

I installed 'kcontrol autostart trinity' from synaptic and was easily able to get 'plank' to autostart perfectly.
note: I had tried 'kooldock. also but prefer the feel and effect response of Plank.
