Problem with Hi-Res monitors

Hi Q4OS'ers!

On my NEC EA244WMi it's not possible to install Q4OS because the monitor won't run in such low resolution as the installer screen sad

I tried connecting a lower res monitor to do the install but then when restarting post-install and connecting up the NEC I also got "Out of Range" message [usually indicating too low a res]

Any tips on how to combat this?

Thanks!

Re: Problem with Hi-Res monitors

I have had similar problems (a long time ago though) and found I had the wrong type of vga lead, and also had a quick look at specs and noticed it has DVI-D connector which might also require a specific connecting lead. Which connection port are you using?

Re: Problem with Hi-Res monitors

The NEC monitor has Graphics Port, HDMI, DVI and VGA [so everything!]

I am using HDMI for the RPi

The main PC is on VGA because I have never gotten round to getting a better lead

I plugged in a crappy monitor to do the install etc and made sure I could log into a GUI

After that I plugged the better monitor and all working smile

Good news! still a bit strange the NEC wouldn't allow a viewable screen though hmm

Re: Problem with Hi-Res monitors

According to a guy at a local computer store this is common with recent hi res monitors...

Re: Problem with Hi-Res monitors

Yes, I think the advance in screen sizes and resolution has caused a few issues although as they are becoming much more common I would hope this becomes less of an issue. smile
