Greetings all
After many successful [>50] 2.4 installs, with frequent successful updates, thought I would replace
a redundant 2.4 with 3.1 - installer very different, not as intuitive, never been a Gparted fan either.
Installed synaptic, went thru the usual pushups and hit updates - >450Meg > 550 new packages.
Looks like it replaced the entire O/S ... not seamless like 2.4 - whole bunch of yes/no questions,
and it eventually it quit midstream ... not good - reminds one of another distro from another time.
Rebooted, GUI worked but synaptic was comatose - ran a few commands, but no joy ....
Repeated the install - no change .... any thoughts ... higher than usual repo count, IMHO
Best Regards
Jack

You maybe should have used the 3.2 image available from the download page, it would be a lot less updates and will also have some bug-fixes applied. I am running it without issue on my laptop.

I installed the 3.2 yesterday.
As you said, zero problems and I feel it's also a tit-bit snappier
Also, installed 38 apps. No problems (.....for now )

That's good to hear, I think jack may have resolved this too as he has not responded.
