I have dell inspirion 5720. Wifi does not work. What's problem?

I'm wondering if you might need the broadcom-sta-common package for it to work, I have seen some other (Ubuntu) posts that refer to bcmwl-kernel-source and I think this is the debian equivalent.

Yes, it could be the case.

I guarantee it, I've used the 43142, it only works (correctly and stably) with broadcom-sta (wl) driver.
It has always worked fairly well with the wl driver that I've seen.
