choppy and stuttering audio volume

Hi all
im new to Q4OS but not to Linux, i recently installed the 32 bit version on a Dell Inspiron Mini 1010 net book, its runs really well but ive no consistent audio signal, its stuttering a lot like theres a loose connection but there isnt if you know what i mean?! Is there a compatible issue with the soundcards in these net books and Q4OS and can i fix the sound issue?!
