How to set default file manager

I would like to set my file manager to Dolphin or maybe any other file manager and not Konqueror. How do I do this? I am using q4os 3.1.

Thanks!!

Re: How to set default file manager

There is no primary config option to set a default file manager in TDE. All you need is to install 'dolphin-trinity' from package manager or from terminal:
$ sudo apt install dolphin-trinity
You can create a shortcut on the desktop and use Dolphin as the default file manager. Do you need to configure a specific application to use Dolphin by default ?

Re: How to set default file manager

Thanks for the quick update!!

It's just that every time I open a folder it opens in konqueror instead of dolphin which is what I would like to happen. The dolphin file manager that comes with 3.1, is that not dolphin Trinity?

Thanks again!! ?

Re: How to set default file manager

Can he right click on a folder and select "open with" then select dolphin? I don't have dolphin installed so I can't test.

Re: How to set default file manager

The easiest way to have your own folders for Documents etc and use dolphin to open them is to create a desktop link.

  1. right click desktop and select Create New -> Link to Application

  2. Enter name (Documents in this example)

  3. Select the Application tab

  4. Enter dolphin ~/Documents in the Command box and press Ok

in step 4 you can use the folder of you choosing.

If you want to give it a dolphin icon:

  1. right click the desktop link you just created and select properties

  2. click on the icon and then enter dolphin in the search bar

  3. select the icon you want and press ok

  4. press ok again

et voila a dolphin link with a dolphin icon opening the folder of your choice.

Q4OS  Fooling TDE to use Dolphin as a default file manager.

Hi, this is a solution I came up with myself.  It does take care of many responses of TDE to use Dolphin as a file manager, it even took to some of the menu launchers as well.  Some things didn't take, but I guess that has to do with the program application itself.  This solution did take care of all my basic file manger needs though, I hope it does the same for you.
