Scorpion + MATE

Just a observation; not a criticism
I've updated Orion to Scorpion - it seems slower.
I've installed a new Scorpion - it still seems slower than Orion.

On another tack, I use MATE on Q4OS and have been getting a message at shutdown regarding "at-spi-registryd.desktop not responding".
The main way people seem to stop this happening is by either renaming the files in /usr/lib/at-spi-core or by making them non-executable.
I have found that moving /etc/xdg/autostart/at-spi-dbus-bus.desktop to a "disabled" subdirectory achieves the same object without a slowdown in booting.

Re: Scorpion + MATE

You mean Orion with Mate is faster than Scorpion with Mate?
I use XFCE and TDE and so far on my hardware Scorpion is slightly faster but definitely not slower. I use both 32/64bit installs on a variety of hardware.

Older hardware that would definitely be the case as Scorpion will not perform as well.

Mate is a bit heavier than either XFCE or TDE but still one of my favorites.

Yes, that's about it. I'm really more impressed with MATE than with TDE. Cheers. And more impressed with Q4OS than a lot of others. However I'm also looking at antiX + MATE - no systemd!

Re: Scorpion + MATE

I use both systemd and nonsystemd distros and my overall experience has been pretty equal with few problems.  I still use Mate with another distro and it continues to improve.  TDE is very young and reminds me of the days when Mate launched and there were many growing pains.
