How do I stop animations and all effects?
Offline
Hi Frank, did you enable the desktop effects from the welcome screen?

no

Desktop effects are off by default so unless you enabled them thru the welcome screen they are presently off.
To check, reboot your pc and when the welcome screen comes up click on install desktop affects and youll see three options, turn on- revert to defaults- cancel
Click on revert to defaults, reboot and youre done. If they are still on you may need to talk to devs to see whats different about your install.

If it is the shutdown fading that you are wanting to change that can be turned off by going to Control Centre -> TDE Components -> Session Manager and disable Show logout fadeaway, I usually do this after an installation.

Just to check, I have enabled Desktop Effects at the start screen.
The difference between effects enabled/diabled is insignificant. I still see fading.
And when I was using SuSe/KDE before KDE4, windows did not expand from nothing to full in reverse striptease under my eyes.
Seems to be the Gnome disease. Under Gnome I can disable animation here and there and there. It just works 50%.

Please revert effects to the default using the welcome screen as suggested by crosscourt in #4:

Click on revert to defaults, reboot and youre done.
Now reboot and specify exactly, what effects do you want to turn off.
