HDMI Port Help Needed

Can the HDMI port be connected to a TV? Where do I find the toggle to send it out to the TV?

Yes, HDMI port should be able to act as a secondary video output. Please try to use 'tderandrtray' applet to toggle video outputs, just run it from start menu or terminal:
$ tderandrtray
