Video issues

Hello again
My "adventures" with Q4OS are continuing smile
From the beginning.
I installed Q4OS Orion 64-bit on Thinkpad T61
During installation created user, lets call him "admin" and later I created new user, lets call him regular-user.
I have problem with admin account and regular user dont have any problems.
Problem is picture "tearing-wobbling" (not exactly correct words but closest)
Feels to me that admin user have some issue with monitor refresh rate.
Mostly it happens when scrolling up and down webpages and when I click Start -> Turn off and then dialog box appeared and backround must be slowly and smootly from top to down convert black and white. In my admin case the picture converts roughly and by fluttering. During webpages scrolling there appears horizontal foggy line. Sorry, I dont know how exactly describe it, but I hope You understand what I meaning.
I also made video about it, converted it by vlc but it still to large for attachment (about 30 Mb)
So I attached some screenshots during screen converting to black and white .
pic1
pic2
pic3
Sometimes picture "tearing" reduces when I log off and restart XServer from log-in screen.
I dont remeber when this "tearing" happened first time. Was it before creating another user or happened it after that. I even deleted second user (no result, same "tearing") and recreated again. All symptoms still same. Admin has screen "tearing" and regular user dont have any problems.
My T61 laptop has nvidia video card and at the moment nvidia driver is in use. I removed nvidia drivers - no success, "tearing" still persist. So I installed nvidia drivers again (from software centre)
So I started look around and started compare hidden configuration files in home folders of both users.
Files: .nvidia-settings-rc, .xsettingsd, .Xresources, .xcompmgrrc are identical for both user.
File .xsesssion-errors in admin home folder is full of "BadWindow" errors. Same file for regular user has much less same erros (mabye because at the moment admin account is more in use on laptop)
I did google search about this error but didnt understand anything from search results
Also found one weird thing: From Control Panel -> Pheriperals -> Monitor refresh rate is 50Hz and no more frequencies from drop-down menu.
From Nvidia Server settins -> XServer Display Configuration and here is refresh rate 60Hz and from drop-down menu is availible options only 60Hz and Auto. 60Hz is selected. So with wich frequency my monitor is actually working ??
Also noticed that when NVIDIA X Server Settings are launced from terminal, then in terminal messages appeared. They all are same:

Package xorg-server was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xorg-server.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'xorg-server' found

What that means ?? Synaptic search returns me that package xorg-server-source is not installed. Must I install it ??

More weird things. From terminal, ~$ nvidia-detect output is:

Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation G86M [Quadro NVS 140M] [10de:0429] (rev a1)
Your card is supported by the default drivers and legacy driver series 304.
It is recommended to install the
    nvidia-driver

How understand about this ?? That my nvidia driver is not properly installed or what ??

What to do next ?? How fix this picture "tearing" ?? I am pretty sure, that somewhere is some cofiguration mismatch, because regular user dont have same "tearing" problems. It must mean that hardware is capable to work correctly.

Additional info.
Fragment from xsession-errors file:

Re: Video issues

The T61 has a long history of issues with the Nvidia GPU that arent directly related to Linux as its also with Windows. Its an issue with the actual chipset being used and Lenovo is aware of the issue. Sometimes it will boot but you get a variety of artifacts and video issues, others wont boot at all.
If you Google the issues with the T61 Nvidia gpu problems many articles are available.

Dont have enough experience with the T61 to comment any further but have worked with it in Windows and issues came and went during different sessions with different users.

Re: Video issues

I have recently acquired a T61 but I have different specs to you, I have an intel graphics card and am having no issues (so far) like you are experiencing.
I have installed Orion with everything working OOTB and will be trying Scorpion hopefully tonight.

Re: Video issues

He can check with Lenovo to see if anything can be done if this is being caused by a hardware issue.

Re: Video issues

Does that mean everything is working correctly now?

Re: Video issues

Yes I believe he isnt having any issues Dai.  Id like to know what he did differently versus his first problem install.

Ive had more luck with the Nouveau drivers versus the Nvidia drivers with older hardware.

Re: Video issues

At this point I am thinking either an install issue or there had been some other software installed (maybe from an outside source?) which caused this to happen. Either way it's good that it's resolved. smile

Re: Video issues

I think in the future we may need to ask people whether theyve installed something outside the normal install from outside sources,

A lot of problems also seem to happen with installs that arent using the full desktop profile.

Re: Video issues

I'm guilty on that one as I never use a profile (only basic) when I do an install and just put in what I want afterwards.

Re: Video issues

I find it easier to install the full desktop and then pull out or add in what I need.  Use to be a minimalist but kept finding things that didnt work and never seem to get everything I needed for a reliable install.

Re: Video issues

My "case" is vice versa.
First install was made from "live cd image" and from desktop profiler "full install"
Second install was made from "bootable installation CD image" and from desktop profiler "basic install" and after few days I did "full install"
Second install - so far no problem, exept bluetooth file transfer
First install - problems occurred approximately same time when second (regular) user was added to system.
