Package Upgrades - I just need info.

Hello everyone.

I'm just curious about what the suffix of some upgrades means.

For example, one of my recent upgrades is gnome-screenshot

The installed version is 3.14.0-1
The latest version to be installed is 3.14.0-1+deb8u1

It's the same build, so what does the +deb8u1 specify?

I've seen these markings many times over the years, but never really put much thought into it.

I think it is refering to debian Jessie(8) update 1 but this is just how I have understood this from observing updates, not any official information.
