Hello,
i was looking for a small app that runs ,in the TDE-Panel' , checks for new emails every given period and tells me when new mail arrived on the server (and maybe tells me the subject and sender).
First i tried "mailcheck", got it (via synaptic), started it (via Run command) and... nothing happened.
Then tried "mail-notification", synaptic marks "mail-notification-evolution" as well, and it tells me (before applying that) it would mean a download of 60+ MB, and about 250 MB used on disk. And that's not funny.
Googled a lot, found sparse answers.
Do you have any?
Thanks

When searching for stuff that you want to interact with Trinity I suggest you always start with searching synaptic with "trinity something"
So, trinity mail shows a number of email related packages - including korn-trinity
"Korn is a TDE mail checker that can display a small summary in the Kicker
tray. It supports checking mbox, pop3, imap4, and nntp sources.
Once mail is received you can have Korn run a third party program or change
the color/icon of the Kicker display. In addition to this you can have
Korn run a program once you click on the docked icon in Kicker."
Sounds like it might fit the bill? Give it a whirl

It does fit the bill very well, thanks again bin!
However, korn-trinity is not listed under category "E-Mail" of synaptic - no wonder i couldn't find it...
Have a nice weekend!
