I recently visited a site where I was told I needed an additional plugin but I have installed flashplayer-nonfree and the icedtea plugin for java (and I've checked that they are both enabled). I'm using the Seamonkey browser which is based on mozilla.
It seems that the plugin I need is for shockwave movies but I'm confused about this because I thought there was no shockwave player for Linux? Or is there?

Installed browser-plugin-gnash(0.8.11), but Shockwave movie does not play...strange...
Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502 If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Yes I tried gnash but no luck there either.
By the way, the current flash player in the repo is 11.2, but apparently adobe have decided to continue supporting linux:

Download the latest beta here:

It's easy to install and I had no problems.

flashplugin-nonfree will give you the most recent version of the 11.2 series incorporating the endless stream of bug fixes and security hole patches from Adobe.
Chromium plus pepperflash with give you the latest Adobe flash as supported by Google - and for some reason the address bar fonts work OK in Debian as opposed to being huge in 'buntu - which is nice.
It's a personal decision but I won't allow flash anywhere near my machine these days - if they can't be bothered to use HTML5 I can't be bothered to look at it
