Thunderbird/ Ice dove problem

Ever since my most recent distro upgrade, I'm having problems with Ice dove. It won't login to my server. I've tried changing my password, but still, no avail. My droid tablet, hasn't had any problems,so I know it's my Q4OS computer. Does anyone have a fix for this...?

Re: Thunderbird/ Ice dove problem

The version of icedove is 45.4.0 The server is IMAP  Mail Server It's set to get mail automatically when i log in. It was doing just that, till the new update. It keeps telling me login to server failed. I re-enter my password, and it still keeps telling me login failed. My tablet logs in fine,,,using Android OS. What should I try next...?

Re: Thunderbird/ Ice dove problem

There should be no impact of Q4OS upgrade to the Icedove, as it's almost completely independent application. We guess it could be some change at your provider site, maybe they started to require SSL authentication.

First, we would recommend to check, if SSL is required to connect to IMAP server and make proper settings including port 993, if so.

The other attempt could be to remove ( backup first ) Icedove data folder '$HOME/.icedove' and start from a clean configuration. It equals to a new Icedove installation.

Re: Thunderbird/ Ice dove problem

I tried checking the SSL and 993 port,as you suggested. To no avail. I completely removed Icedove and did a new installation,as you recommended. It solved the problem. Icedove is flying again.. Thanks,..!
