HEVC videos playing badly

Hello, I just installed Q4OS on a new PC and some videos (HEVC MKVs on my hard drive) don't play as they should: On VLC, they appear way too dark, on MPV I get the weirdest glitches and choppy playback.

I had the dark HEVC problem (the glitches are new) on my previous PC, with the same version of Q4OS but some months ago, so it wasn't based on Bookworm. I solved the issue then, but I can't remember how I did it, it had to be something really easy to fix because I don't know my way around Linux yet.

I guess I should install the codecs for HEVC, but I don't even know how to do that, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Re: HEVC videos playing badly

You may need to install "gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad" package.

It looks like I already have it:

sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad is already the newest version (1.22.0-4+deb12u1).
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  python-is-python3 smtube youtube-dl
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.

Re: HEVC videos playing badly

(Sorry about posting questions on a Sunday, answer whenever, there's no hurry)
In case it helps, here's the info of a video that played fine on the old, fixed PC but is glitchy/dark on the new one:

16.0 Mb/s, 3840*2160 (16:9), at 24.000 FPS, HEVC (Main 10@L5@High), HDR10

Re: HEVC videos playing badly

Sorry to insist, but I couldn't find a solution by myself and I need help, please.
More info: I just tested another HEVC vid and it seems to play fine:

4.543 kb/s, 1910*798 (2.40:1), at 24.000 FPS, HEVC (Main@L4@Main)
