Okay, Its installed. How do I acces the recovery mode?
Offline
When grub starts select recovery options (or advanced options).

I don't see the option. Do I have to type something or press a specific key?
Edit: nevermind I found it

I boot into recovery for Q4OS, right?
Offline
Yes, that should do it.

Okay' I'm in. What do I do next?
Offline
first I would install inxi and get the system info (inxi -F) so we have info from kernel and then we can see exactly what we are up against. also I would run an update/dist-upgrade while the system is stable too.
And don't overlook suggestions by bin here.

Can you use ethernet to get system fully updated? if not do you have wireless connections available?
Offline
I do have a wireless connection.
Offline
Is there a way to set that connection up in recovery mode?
Offline
You should be able to set it up as normal, providing the network manager is showing connections.
Offline
Okay I just restarted the system And I'm now in the login screen. Will see what goes on from here.
Offline
Now Q4OS is working better, but the screen is slightly blurry, and I still have no connection because it keeps failing.
Offline
Does sudo ifconfig show your wireless card?
Offline
Yes. My mistake I do have wireless

Now I have a 15 inch monitor and the highest resolution 1020 x 768. How do I get a higher setting?
Offline
Ok, when you said the connection was failing can you say what was failing? was it failing to connect or failing after successfully connecting?
As for the monitor I think we should get your system updated and sort out your connection issue first then you can boot into 'normal' mode and configure things properly.

I'm on normal mode currently as recovery mode was not graphical. My connection shows up on Network Manager but is unable to connect to it because it says "secrets were not found". Other then that and the display, the desktop is fully functional.

Recovery Mode is also graphical, but it doesn't really matter. Can you try removing the connection details from network manager, click on networking icon (systray) -> Edit Connections then select your wifi connection and click Delete Connection
Next reboot to ensure a clean system (without residual memory of network) and then add the network connection again.
Offline
Okay, I'll try that.
Edit: I've found something strange: When I normally boot up, it takes some time. When the monitor refreshes, it almost skips to the chase, so to speak, and move along normaly. Weird

It can take x amount of time for stuff to settle - it depends on what is going in behind the scenes.
The delay may well be down to the system trying to load stuff and failing or going into a fallback mode.
Do you use automatic login? If so then disable it and try logging in manually - does that smoothe out the process?
There are various logs you can look at which will tell you what is going on - but more importantly what is NOT going on or failing.
I notice this machine has PS/2 ports - are you using PS/2 mouse and keyboard or USB?
May be worth a swap around if you have USB hardware.

I have one PS/2 keyboard, The rest, including a mouse and wlan0 device, are all USB. Login was never set to auto login.
