Re: debian installer missing

If you are new to Q4OS the I suggest you use the Software Centre in Programs>Accessories>System to install Synaptic

At some point you will need it.

Then in Synaptic you can install gdebi which is what you need for installing lone packages.

OR you could just open Konsole and do

sudo apt-get install synaptic gdebi

Once that's done then you can browse to a deb file, right click on it>open with>browse to Programs>Accessories>System>gdebi and check the box that says Remember Association - there are other ways to this using the File Assocaitions tool.

Now, having said all that you do need to be a bit wary of installing deb files you have downloaded. Gdebi will try to resolve dependencies but nn some cases you may have impossible dependencies, in some cases you could have a rogue file...... always check in Synaptic to see if what you need is there. Those are the official Debian repos. Slightly later versions of the apps can be installed from Backports using a separate command.

Please do not try to add Ubuntu ppa sources to your system.
