PRINTERS

Can anyone suggest a printer (all in one, scanner, copier, printer) that works well with Q4OS...? I have an old Lexmark X6150,..I can't find a driver for it. I also have an ancient HP DeskJet 952C that works perfect with Q4OS...Is HP my Q4OS "friendly"...?

Re: PRINTERS

Yes...there's one for a Lexmark 2050 printer,...but not a X6150...wish I could find one for it. I'll probably buy a new HP printer.

Re: PRINTERS

We have a Brother MFC240C and it works wonderfully with Q4OS.  In fact, I've had great success with Brother printers and Linux, mostly because you can download .DEB and .RPM versions of their drivers, right from their website.

Current setup:  Acer Aspire One D257 / Q4OS Centaurus / TDE / SeaMonkey 2.53.8.1

Re: PRINTERS

Are these printers All In One(s) or are they just solely printers....I'm looking for an A.I.O. I'm considering a HP....but I heard the Canons were easy to set up. The pinch rollers in the Lexmark aren't working right. I tried to fix them, but I can't find any repair info on this particular model.
I just need to 86 it,and buy a new one. Thanks for the info...!

Re: PRINTERS

A bit late, but as I figured out, almost all SAMSUNG Laser printers should work well on Q4OS, because they use Unified Linux Driver (ULD) for Linux OS.
Also Epson L110 works well on Q4OS. Currently I use it for printing photos.

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Re: PRINTERS

Good to know, thanks. In addition, some Samsung printers, especially laser MFCs, need 'printer-driver-splix' package to be installed.

Re: PRINTERS

Installed my HP 1102w Laser Printer in Q4OS by running HPLIP & added binary plug-in as instructed.

The process to install HPLIP is not streamlined at all as there are missing dependencies; you have to tell the HPLIP-----.run program to simply "i" ignore that error (a package manager process is running- which it wasn't). You are given a choice of finishing the install using GUI or not (Should be default but, its not). All-in-all though, most people will be able to install it by following HP's own install tutorial.

I do thing that all Linux either live by a terminal screen or HP is not user friendly to those who would like to use Linux. Then you look at how they also push Windows 10 and have to wonder, "Does Bill Gates own a lot of HP stock or what ?

My $10 HP 1102p Professional Laser printer prints darn good with Linux.  very happy CaptNoize started this thread as it got me to finally install my HP Printer in Q4OS.

Opps.  I did forget that was in the docs.

I will try it on one of my other computers.

Thanks Q4OS Team for reminding me.
