now that 2.4 stable is out, any idea when we on 1.8 will be updated to the 2.4 version?

Re: q4os version

Orion (1.8) will not be automatically updated to Scorpion (2.4) and it is recommended to perform a fresh install to use Scorpion.

It might be possible to "upgrade" but it is very likely there will be issues that could break the system due to the vast number of packages that need to be upgraded and there are also a lot of changes to the underlying system that might cause any other packages that are installed to stop working or be removed from the system altogether.

I usually run more than one OS on my systems (currently 6 on my laptop) and you can always have them both installed and migrate your data over and keep the Orion install functional until you are happy everything is on the Scorpion installation and then remove Orion from the disk, but it would require a little knowledge of partitioning and configuration to do it (which could be provided here if you need help).

Re: q4os version

Thanks for the info. I have backups of my home directory, and will have to make sure I have all the current software backed up as well.
